At Up North Cabins, we offer a place to unplug, connect with nature, and make memories.

Our vision is to provide exceptional short-term vacation rental experiences that allow you to leave refreshed and wanting to plan your next stay.

Our Location

We are located 13 miles north and east of Langdon North Dakota, 9 miles west of the Pembina Gorge, and 17 miles west of Walhalla.

We are about 40 minutes from Morden, Manitoba via Maida/Windygates Port of Entry and 45 minutes from Winkler, Manitoba via Walhalla/Winkler Port of Entry.

Are you open in the winter?

Our Cozy Cabin is open year-round and is awesome in the winter. Only 10 miles to Frost Fire Park!

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is at 3:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM.

Is there a minimum stay requirement?

There is no minimum stay requirement.

Are pets allowed?

Yes, we allow dogs. Please let us know who you are bringing so we can be prepared for your furry friends.

Are there trails or places we could go ATVing?

Yes, there are there trails in the Pembina Gorge State Recreation Area. It's a short drive to the trailhead, with plenty of room for trailer parking. We provide maps in our cabins. We have plenty of on-site parking for ATV trailers.

We also have a small trail system through our property that you are welcome to use.

Do you offer tent camping or RV hook ups?

At this time, we do not offer tent camping or RV hook ups.

About Up North Cabins

Our Story

We are Terry and Sarah Hinnenkamp and along with our kids, Elin and Callen, we packed our bags and left Fargo in 2019.

We headed north to open short-term vacation rentals to support tourism near the Pembina Gorge in northeast North Dakota. We were inspired by the Netflix show “Stay Here” with Minnesota native Genevieve Gorder, and by the ideas brewing in the Rendezvous Region, Frost Fire Park, and the Pembina Gorge State Recreation Area, soon to be a state park.

Our Timeline

October 2020 - purchased a nearly 9-acre property, 9 miles west of the Pembina Gorge on County Hwy 55
Spent summers cleaning up scrap metal, doing tree work, mowing, and dreaming big
Summer 2023 - took delivery of a destination travel trailer RV, which started renting in Aug. 2024
November 2023 - had water lines and septic systems installed, and had four lots cleared for vacation rentals, had a road built, and added a parking lot

December 2023 - took delivery of an upgraded park model. It’s 540 square feet and is listed on Airbnb.
January 2024 - built steps for the front and side doors of the cabin
February 2024 - had plumbing hooked up to the cabin
Easter Weekend 2024 - first available weekend and the cabin rented!
